"Like a good neighbor, State Farm is NOT there.

We have been customers since 2008. All they see is your bank account and how much of it they can have. After the Derecho we had clearly sustained damage to our roof but they brought in appraisers that were sure to deny our claim. We won and they lost that one.

Today our 17 year old son went to get his drivers license back after a 2 month suspension for making a careless choice driving last year. It was a single incident. He went to the drivers license station all happy this morning to put the last 2 months behind him.

He had all documentation ready. Ready to drive again. He's LEARNED HIS LESSON. Found out we needed our GOOD NEIGHBOR to simply sign an SR-22 for six months. The GOOD NEIGHBOR SAID NO.

Hello, Progressive."

"Like a bad neighbor, State Farm is absolutely nowhere… nor do they care.

First:The local office is phenomenal. Blake, Cam, the whole team — they’re the only functioning part of this entire operation. They’re the human shield between you and the corporate conglomerate behind them. They deserve medals, raises, and a company that doesn’t sabotage them daily.

Everything after that?A slow‑motion disaster disguised as an insurance company.

The moment you find yourself in a situation that warrants one to file a homeowners claim, the Iowa faces vanish and you’re launched into a bureaucratic black hole, run by people who have likely never set foot in this state, never will, and could not care less if your roof is destroyed or your house is underwater. You get bounced to some regional or national claims department where empathy goes to die.

Expect to deal with:

A claims rep from another state like Texas who sounds personally offended that you dared to need help.

Or a “claims specialist” who communicates exclusively through vague emails written like they’re allergic to accountability.

Or someone who treats every question like you’re trying to steal from them instead of, you know, asking them to honor the policy you loyally paid for, on time for the previous decade without claims.

Every step of the process is engineered to exhaust you: The ole “Triple D's"

Delay- until you give up.

Deflect- until you’re confused.

Deny- until you’re desperate.

Seriously, it's a masterclass in Corporate Yuckery, or rhymes with.

Meanwhile, your home sits damaged, your life is disrupted, and the people making decisions about your claim are sitting comfortably hundreds of miles away, insulated from the consequences of their choices. They don’t have to face you at Hy-Vee. They don’t have to drive past your half‑repaired house. They don’t have to care.

And they don’t.

If you push back, they know exactly your options-

Keep appealing and watch the process stretch into eternity.

Or hire an attorney and start burning money like firewood you split five years ago (that's very dry and burns fast)

Either way, the win.You take to big L.And the people actually responsible never have to look you in the eye

Don't take my word, though, give em a try. Maybe start out small- see if they‘ll offer a starter policy on a garden shed first. Or, see how it goes when you actually need them something more than a premium payment, like, I don't know, protecting your most expensive assets in life that you worked so hard for.

Or, you can go read the thousands of reviews on any site that reviews them on a national stage rather than local office. Last I checked, State Farm was hovering around 1.2 stars on the well known one, a bit optimistic if ya ask me."

"I have been a long time customer of Adam’s for many years and I have always had great customer service. A couple of weeks ago our sunroof on our Ford Edge shattered and Jen Kasenberg has gone above and beyond on helping us with every step of getting the vehicle repaired. "As someone who hasn’t purchased any kind of insurance in the past, I was a bit unsure about how to choose the right insurance plan. A short, 5-minute phone call with Julia Nightser (one of the representatives at Adam Schechinger’s State Farm agency in Coralville) quickly changed that.
